Austin Ryan Hoffmann

Musician/Singer/Songwriter/Artist

Austin Ryan Hoffmann (AHSTYN - Another Humbling Survival Through Yesterday's Negativity) is a fairly unknown, underground solo music artist, singer-songwriter that started playing and writing music in 1991, at the age of 12 years old, in Riverside, CA. Having no music lessons, and being entirely self-taught, he would listen to various rock records and try to play along. Doing this with practice, he became a fairly decent guitar player. He is highly influenced by bands like: The Beatles, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Deftones, Tool, Black Flag, Bad Religion, Weezer, HIM, and spiderworks Etc. Considering his music "Audio Art" and "Sound Paintings.", he often records his music in poor quality, with a signature "Grunge Home Recording" type of sound for his electric music, and a somber, "Reverb" sound for his solo acoustic songs. He tends to deliberately leave mistakes in his recordings, as a way to show the listener that "Art is not perfect, so my music shouldn't be either.", because of this defiant artistic form of expression, he has a very small fan base following. However, despite critics, and "Non Fans", he continues making, recording, and releasing music frequently. In 2013, Austin Ryan Hoffmann (AHSTYN) founded Cancerian Records, an independent minor record label, he used for the release of his debut album, and continues to own and operate presently. The same year he became a regular performer at Euphoria Hookah Lounge in Santa Barbara, CA, which closed it's doors in 2016. He has released many albums, played many shows, and has been a part of more than a few, "Side Projects", such as aqwateyx, A.R.H., and DrivenDeadlyDevoted Etc. AHSTYN's music showcases the "Darker Side" of life, which is not an easy listen for some people. His songs are mostly based on actual life events, being real, honest, exposed, and vulnerable. He has been on hiatus from playing live shows since 2015, however, he plans to get back out there at some point in the near future, to preferably tag along with some friends for a solo acoustic tour. AHSTYN's music can be found on many social media platforms, and of recently, in major online music stores and streaming sites. In his own words, "til Death and Ever After."

"Everything about AHSTYN is art, from the music, album covers, quality of sound, lyrics, every chord, note, melody, harmony, off beats, improvisions, fuck ups, etc. If you don't like art, don't listen to my music. If you like art, and you're a fan of mine, thanks for the support. It's people like you that make me want to keep playing, making, recording, and releasing music, audio art, and sound paintings to the world. I'm a music artist. It's not just what I do, it's who I am. Everybody will be remembered for something. This is my legacy in the works. Much love and many blessings." - Austin Ryan Hoffmann (AHSTYN)

"From Austin’s music emerges a longing for life and an open door for death that simultaneously creates an atmosphere of no turning back, as he looks everything straight in the face. Austin’s recording technique is no different. Often making an entire album in a matter of days, Austin trudges forward with building hooks that showcase grunge-influenced guitar work accompanied by hauntingly pleasant vocals. It is an understatement to say that music is Austin’s passion, as he continues to create his own soundtrack at the speed of life itself, and what a ride it is!" - Jaan Landheer (Singer-Songwriter)

"Well ,  Austin's music is inspiring, and you can hear the talent in his music shine through! He's an amazing musician, and an amazing person, and it shows  all through his music." - Kathy Gresham (Friend and Fan)

"its like if sharks could go bowling, which would actually be pretty difficult, considering sharks live underwater and bowling balls can't swim." - Eric V Lamb (Thrash Commander - Musician)
